Mattia De Sciglio has turned down the chance of a move to Celtic.

Highly respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news last night on his website which has 1.2m followers on Twitter.

De Sciglio made nine appearances on the right for Juventus last season but as the bigger clubs trim their squads and wage bills it seems that he is surplus to requirements.

The report doesn’t mention whether the offer was a loan or permanent deal but with a contract that runs until 2022 it’s likely that it will be a loan move.

Gianluca Di Marzio’s own website reports:

Juve tries to make money with some sales. Among the names of the outgoing players there is also that of Mattia De Sciglio.

In the last few hours, Celtic’s interest has been lost on the Juventus winger. The Scottish team has come forward, but at the moment De Sciglio does not seem convinced of the destination.

Jeremie Frimpong is the current first choice at Celtic with Hatem Abd Elhamed as back-up, in recent days all of the transfer speculation has been about signing a left-back. Slightly further forward James Forrest is likely to be out injured for a few more weeks.

Reaching the group stage of the Europa League makes a move to Celtic slightly more appealing with the transfer window open until midnight on Monday.
