Vasilis Barkas is set for his first Celtic appearance in over a month according to a report in The Sun.

The former AEK Athens keeper missed the 3-3 draw at Aberdeen on October 25 through injury but has been back on the bench watching Scott Bain since Celtic drew 2-2 away to Lille in the Europa League.

Celtic aren’t in the habit of paying £4.5m for substitutes with The Sun reporting:

NEIL LENNON will hand Vasilis Barkas a second chance to be Celtic’s first-choice keeper. And he is making big changes to help him settle in. The under-fire Celts boss is expected to recall the Greek No?1 for the last-16 Betfred Cup clash with Ross County at Parkhead.

Celtic’s defence has been taken apart in recent matches with little that Bain or Barkas could do over a nine match run that has resulted in 21 goals being conceded.

When Fraser Forster rejected the chance of a further season on loan at Celtic the club had to step up their interest in a keeper with the un-tested Conor Hazard and Ross Doohan joining Bain for the pre-season matches in France.

In front of the keeper the Celtic defence has constantly been chopping and changing with Chris Jullien, Shane Duffy and Nir Bitton all getting runs in the side.

Jeremie Frimpong will miss today’s match due to suspension on the back of his red card in last season’s Betfred Cup Final.
