Neil Lennon probably thought that he had been through almost every emotion during close on 20 years with Celtic as a player, coach and twice as manager.
A decade ago he watched an insipid performance against Ross County in a Scottish Cup semi-final defeat at Hampden then delivered a blistering post match attack on the squad he had taken on from Tony Mowbray.
Five title wins as a manager later and he watched the same opponents end Celtic’s Betfred Cup hopes in a front of a near empty Celtic Park.
After carrying out pitchside interviews with Premier Sports, BBC Scotland and Celtic TV he ventured inside the Media Room where the chants of protesting fans outside the stadium were audible.

There was less defiance in his comments to the general media conference but despite the clamour from fans outside the ground there was no sign of any reaction from the Celtic board.
On Thursday Celtic take on AC Milan in the San Siro with the signs after the Ross County defeat being that Lennon will remain in charge.
