Jeremie Frimpong was giving very little away yesterday as he spoke to the media ahead of today’s game against Dundee United.
The former Manchester City prospect is under contract until the summer of 2023 but that hasn’t stopped speculation that he is a transfer target of Roma.
Frimpong’s versatility at Celtic has been invaluable this season as he slots in at right-back or right midfield dependent on where Kris Ajer and Ryan Christie are being used.
With Ajer, Christie, Odsonne Edouard and Olivier Ntcham in the final 18 months of their contract Frimpong offers some continuity going forward with 2021 looking like a year of change at Celtic Park.
A move to Italy is bound to interest anyone playing in Scotland but Frimpong told the Glasgow Times that he has other priorities:
I am just focussed on Celtic right now. I am at Celtic so I am focussed on that.
Away to Hamilton Frimpong played at right-back but with Chris Jullien and Shane Duffy available to play against Dundee United there is a strong prospect of Ajer playing at right-back behind Christie.
