Phil MacGiollabhain has been assured that there will be changes but is unable to put a timescale on when.

The Irish based blogger has developed a nose for stories around the club, building up a Twitter following of over 40,000 followers anxious to get an insight away from the traditional sources.

Two wins in 11 matches creating some horrendous statistics has put Neil Lennon in the spotlight but the role of Peter Lawwell has increasingly come under criticism.

With the exception of the appointment of Brendan Rodgers in 2016 the club CEO has been the driving force behind more than a decade of key decisions.

European humiliations from Cluj, Malmo, Maribor, AEK Athens, Copenhagen and Sparta Prague have left Lawwell exposed but domestic joy has kept his performance away from real scrutiny. Until now.

Angry scenes after the Betfred Cup defeat from Ross County provided a welcome distraction last Sunday but shipping another four goals in Europe has put the focus firmly back on the manager and the CEO standing by his side.

MacGiollabhain reports:

The best-placed source that I spoke with yesterday, a person very close to Mr Desmond’s thinking, assured me ‘there will be changes’ apropos the situation at Celtic.

I reminded him that as with the Brexit negotiations in London there was dangerously little time before the cliff edge was a thing of the past. After that, of course, is the sensation of an irreversible plummeting.

It remains to be seen if Lennon faces the media today under the pretence of previewing Sunday’s match with St Johnstone when his own future is the biggest issue at the club.
