After another distressing 90 minutes some Celtic fans are screaming out for the club to bring in Eddie Howe as manager.

Neil Lennon may have been self-isolating alongwith 13 of his first team players but there were no signs of sympathy from supporters as they suffered through a dull 90 minutes at home to Livingston.

Gavin Strachan didn’t have a striker to choose from but there was little sign of defensive unity or understanding in midfield with Livi dominating the first half with the second half more evenly contested.

Over the last few days there has been a number of rumours suggesting that the former Bournemouth boss is on the brink of moving to Celtic. From this distance it looks to be a case of wishful thinking with little sign inside the club that they are about to take a change of direction.

Howe resigned from Bournemouth as soon as they were relegated in the summer, despite previously being linked with Spurs and Arsenal he has remained out of management for six months.

Bournemouth’s promotion win in 2014/15 was bank rolled but it was still from a highly competitive league against club’s enjoying vast parachute payments.

For four seasons they were steered clear of relegation, enjoying mid-table finishes before being related in a Lockdown interrupted season.

It would be a massive change of direction if Celtic handed power back to a manager from the highly paid CEO, for now it remains just a rumour and a wish for supporters looking for a way out of the darkest season in a decade.
