Eddie Howe is the bookies favourite to become the next Newcastle manager with Steve Bruce expected to be the next EPL manager to be sacked.

With Newcastle on a run of nine matches without a win pressure is growing on Bruce who was an underwhelming choice to replace Rafa Benitez who quit the club in the summer of 2019.

There has been loads of speculation and rumours linking Howe with Celtic with one popular WhatsApp message suggesting that tonight is Neil Lennon’s final match in charge before the former Bournemouth boss takes charge tomorrow.

Despite that speculation there has been no significant sign of change being imminent although the gap between Peter Lawwell and Neil Lennon has widened significantly over the last two days.

Celtic’s Media team didn’t touch Monday’s explosive broadcast conference, Lennon’s Sky Sports ban was broken in 24 hours while Keith Jackson has uncovered details which undermine Lennon’s claim that the goalposts were moved regarding Social Distancing for Celtic’s Dubai trip.

Howe resigned as Bournemouth boss in August but it looks like his time out could soon be over as The Sun reports:

EDDIE HOWE is the leading contender to be appointed Newcastle’s next permanent manager. That’s according to bookmakers Betfair, who’ve installed the former Bournemouth boss as the 7/2 favourite to replace Steve Bruce at St. James’ Park.

Howe, 43, has been a free agent since leaving the Vitality Stadium in August and his attacking approach could prove popular on Tyneside. Rafa Benitez is second in the betting market at 4/1.

The 63-year-old guided Newcastle to the Championship title and secured a 10th and two 13th-placed finishes before leaving to join Dalian Yifang in July 2019. However, Rafa’s return looks unlikely given his fractured relationship with owner Mike Ashley.

Lennon is on a 12 month rolling contract, signing it soon after Celtic won the 2019 Scottish Cup Final by beating Hearts at Hampden.
