Lawrence Shankland scored a goal that will be hard to beat tonight as Dundee United drew 2-2 with Johnstone at Tannadice.
Before the kick-off both teams joined in a minute of applause for Jim McLean, the legendary United boss was hard to please but might have managed a smile as he watched Shankland’s 53rd minute shot hit the back of the net.
Fed a pass as he crossed the halfway line close to the side of the pitch the former Ayr United striker sent a diagonal shot from 50 yards straight for goal.
Zander Clark was close to the penalty spot but as he raced backwards the sheer pace of the shot beat him, flying in under the crossbar.

United had opened the scoring through Louis Appere in the ninth minute but found themselves trailing before half-time with Saint Johnstone striking through Guy Melamed and Chris Kane.
