The Irishman famously walked away from the old club in their hour of need to join Sion as a free agent in 2012.
After a season at Hearts Steven Gerrard signed the former Burnley and Norwich star in August 2018 but halfway through his two year deal he was mutually consented.
Spells in Norway, at Sunderland and in Italy have met with a very predictable ending but in their desperate need Kilmarnock have promised Lafferty a wage until the end of May.
