Neil Lennon has claimed that he is the man to mastermind Celtic’s summer rebuild.

Speaking to Sunday newspapers the hoops boss has defended his corner against a claim that this season has been an unmitigated disaster. Tonight he watched a second Ross County manager in three months out-smart him with superior tactics.

Despite a five match winning run in which Lennon claimed the side was back in the groove Celtic have lost 15 points since the turn of the year to trail 18 points behind in what could have been a historic season.

Other than David Turnbull none of the summer signings have made a worthwhile contribution to this season but Lennon has urged the board to trust him with more funds and a close season overhaul.

BBC Scotland reported:

More from Celtic boss Neil Lennon, who insists he is the man to overhaul the squad this summer despite coming under renewed pressure with the club’s hopes of a 10th successive title in tatters.

Asked on BBC Sportsound if Celtic need a rebuild, Lennon says: “Yes, I would say so. I’ve done it before so why I can’t be the one to do it? So far I’ve not been told anything otherwise. I love this job, I love the club. This has been a difficult season in a number of ways but you always want to rebuild and go again.”

Ryan Christie was Celtic’s chief sinner in front of goal tonight but was chosen to partner Odsonne Edouard ahead of Albian Ajeti, Patryk Klimala and Leigh Griffiths who were among the substitutes.

On Saturday Celtic host Aberdeen, in May 2019 Lennon was appointed manager on a permanent basis with a 12-month rolling contract.
