Marian Shved has admitted that with hindsight joining Celtic two years ago was a mistake.

The winger was officially the last signing of Brendan Rodgers although it’s debateable how much influence the current Leicester boss had in the signing.

Shved was shipped back to Karpaty Lviv on loan while Rodgers moved on, last season under Neil Lennon he was restricted to just three appearances totalling less than 34 minutes.

A loan move to Mechelen didn’t start promisingly but four goals in his last eight appearances suggest that he is rediscovering the form that excited Celtic fans on You Tube.

Celtic’s move in 2019 came out of the blue but asked about an offer to join Genk at the same time Shved told Belgian site GVB of his regret with Glasgow Live picking up on a translation:

That’s right yes. They even made a higher offer than Celtic but after consultation with my brokers, we ultimately opted for Celtic. In retrospect, that may not have been the right choice. If I knew what I know now, I might have chosen the Belgian league and signed with Genk.

Shved is under contract with Celtic until 2023, whether Mechelen have an option to buy remains to be seen.
