Celtic fans are flocking to a petition to get the club to ditch Park’s of Hamilton as the club’s transport provider.

The Lanarkshire based Motor Group have been providing coach travel for Celtic since the seventies. During Wallace Mercer’s time in charge of Hearts the company’s owner, Douglas Park, was a director of the Edinburgh club but in 2015 he switched his backing to join up with Dave King at Ibrox.

On Change.org over 1,800 fans had signed the petition by mid-day on Thursday.

At Celtic’s 2017 AGM one shareholder quizzed Peter Lawwell about subsidising a rival club with the hoops CEO replying that we are bigger than that.

A letter from Park to the First Minister was published on Tuesday which made numerous references to the Old Firm and ‘the Parkhead club’ which provoked a number of Celtic fans.

The issue of transport has been topical during the pandemic with Neil Lennon revealing that Celtic had been forced to travel on six coaches to the recent away match at Ross County.

Should Celtic cancel their travel deal with Park's of Hamilton

At away matches there is almost always TV footage of the Celtic players stepping off the team coach as they arrive outside the stadium, providing Park’s with great publicity.
