Lisandro Martinez has delivered one of the most incredible post-match interviews after Manchester United lost 2-0 away to Atletico Madrid.
It was an entirely predictable result for a team that has now gone five matches without a win.
That was outplayed at home in a 1-1 draw with win-less Spurs on Saturday night and is level on points in the EPL with Coventry City.
Anyone expecting a ‘the lads are disappointed’ followed by ‘we’ll need to get up for the next match’ type interview was in for a shock.
Much like the Glazer family that owns Manchester United and Jason Wilcox, the Technical Director who got a special mention.
Last season caretaker boss Michael Carrick performed a minor miracle to take Manchester United into a Champions League place.
The Board were delighted by that unexpected performance and windfall. So pleased that they gave Carrick the manager’s job on a permanent basis.
Celtic fans may notice some parallels. After three successive defeats and a Champions League exit it is clear that there is a very low benchmark for Martin O’Neill.
MARTINEZ DOESN’T HOLD BACK ON MANCHESTER UNITED ISSUES
At Old Trafford they are discovering that Carrick isn’t their saviour. Like half a dozen others before him the fundamentals of the club are badly broken. No manager can overcome those issues.
And they came to the fore last night in Madrid.
In a calm measured manner Martinez gave some straight answers, exactly what fans and viewers wanted to hear.
@primevideosport Not sure there’s ever been a post-match interview like this in this history of football.
Slagging off the owner and hierarchy on a TV broadcast that’s beaming live around the world.
Would have loved some of our players to do this when Ashley was here! ?

We did a fantastic season last season and now we expect more from the top, more players to compete because many teams bring many players as well.
Atletico have an amazing team and they deserved to win today.
I expect more [investment]. 100%. I expect more from our technical director [Jason Wilcox].
I have to be honest, as players we have to do more but it is also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for this kind of night.
Tonight it is easy to [blame] the coach, easy to say the players but also we have to see other areas.
He added:
You can’t keep changing, changing, changing the manager. What about other areas? I can’t say more.
Last season we did everything, we created the base to create an amazing team.
It will be interesting to see what happens to Martinez following those comments.
In recent weeks Callum McGregor, Liam Scales and Cameron Carter-Vickers have delivered measured criticism of how Celtic are playing. Naturally they didn’t go on to question the structure or running of the club.
Michael Nicholson will be hoping that the damage tomorrow night in Lisbon doesn’t push any Celtic players over the edge.
Footballers are employees, just like managers.
Those type of public outbursts are incredibly rare. Those views may well be heard in private but barely ever make it into the public realm.
Martinez chose to do it on Amazon Prime with a truly global audience. Overshadowing the other seven Champions League matches taking place.

Nicholson will only be hoping that his 17 grand a week for doing f**k all continues ad infinitum.
Ooops! Still it probably needs emphasising.
