Eddie Howe is reported to have turned down TWO EPL offers to continue in talks about becoming the next Celtic manager.

The claim is made by the Daily Record who seem to have established contact with the former Bournemouth boss or are getting information from a third party.

Roy Keane and Howe have been the two men most strongly linked with the job, strangely both of them have been out of management with so signs of an approach from Celtic in the five weeks since Neil Lennon resigned.

The Daily Record reports:

In-demand Eddie Howe has turned down offers from TWO English Premier League clubs as he holds out for the Celtic job.

Record Sport can exclusively reveal the former Bournemouth boss was this week given the chance to succeed Chris Wilder at Sheffield United.

But the 43-year-old knocked back the vacant Blades position and one other top-flight side, currently with a manager in position.

Howe is now the leading contender to become Neil Lennon’s permanent successor and Parkhead is the Englishman’s preferred destination.

It’s believed his representatives have been in talks with Celtic chiefs over the odds-on move and those discussions are expected to be stepped up in the coming days.

Should Celtic offer the manager's job to Eddie Howe

Yes, absolutely. Howe is the perfect fit

No, what has he won?

No, what has he won?

Howe took Bournemouth to five seasons in the EPL before resigning last August when they were relegated. Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace and Steve Bruce at Newcastle seem to be the two managers under most pressure but each club would only offer a similar challenge as Bournemouth with little more than survival expected.

If the conditions are right Celtic can use the Brendan Rodgers template to tempt Howe but he will need reassurances on the set up with a new CEO about to come in and a vacancy in recruitment caused by the departure of Nick Hammond.

The Record report adds:

Eddie is extremely keen on Celtic and claims that he only wants a job in England couldn’t be further from the truth.

He has already turned down two job offers in the English Premier League, including Sheffield United only this week. The location doesn’t matter – what is important is that the club is the right fit for Eddie and Eddie is the right for the club.
