Scotland’s European Championship squad is facing wipe-out after two England players have been forced to self-isolate after coming into contact with Billy Gilmore.

Chelsea team-mates Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount came into contact with the Scotland midfielder after the 0-0 draw at Wembley on Friday and have been forced to isolate.

Gilmore has been in far greater contact with his 25 Scotland team-mates and the management team.

It hasn’t been revealed yet when Gilmore was infected but over the last few days he has been training and dining with his team-mates, flown with them twice, checked into hotels and played golf and Table Tennis.

The announcement from the English FA puts the SFA and the Scottish Government in the spotlight.

In January 13 Celtic players were ordered to self-isolate after being deemed to be close contacts of Chris Jullien. If the same rules are applied, Steve Clarke’s squad are now back in Scotland, it is hard to see how the Scotland squad remains intact for tomorrow’s match against Croatia.
