Kris Commons has tipped Kyogo Furuhashi to surpass the goal totals of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.
Three weeks into his Celtic career the Japanese striker is drawing great comparisons with six goals from his first five starting appearance.
Kyogo is about more than goals but inside the penalty box he has a predators instinct that his new team-mates are taking full advantage of.
Picking up on his column in the Daily Mail, the Daily Record reports Commons saying:
Kyogo Furuhashi has been the poster boy thus far for what fans are now calling ‘Ange-ball’. The little Japanese striker has been a revelation with his pace, movement and finishing ability.
Moussa Dembele’s best season at Celtic saw him net 32 goals in all competitions. Odsonne Edouard’s most prolific season brought 29 goals.
Yet, if he stays fit, Kyogo will comfortably surpass both of those totals. Leigh Griffiths’ tally of 40 goals in 2015-16 could even be a realistic target.
Because make no mistake, Kyogo is a natural in front of goal. He will terrorise defences this season with his electric pace and movement.
After a run of five successive home matches Kyogo faces two big challenges over the next week with Celtic on the road to Alkmaar and Ibrox.
The 26-year-old has scored in all three of his European appearances so far, maintaining that run in the Netherlands would go a long way towards securing Celtic a place in the group stage of the Europa League.
A draw or win at Ibrox on Sunday would see Celtic remain above their Glasgow rivals as Ange Postecoglou reshapes his squad in the final days of the transfer window.
In season 2013/14 Commons scored 31 goals in all competitions including 27 in 32 SPFL starting appearances plus two as a substitute.
