Ange Postecoglou has taken Jane Lewis to task after she claimed that the Celtic team were booed by fans after the 0-0 draw with Livingston.

There was plenty of groaning and some anger but any booing must have been very local to the BBC Scotland reporter.

While most managers will play along with questions that may be a bit off target Postecoglou has repeatedly demonstrated that he isn’t one to tolerate questions that he disagrees with.

After Celtic’s Europa League win over Ferencvaros Alasdair Lamont felt the sharp end of the Australian’s tongue, yesterday it was his BBC colleague that found the questions turned around.

The Daily Record reports:

Postecoglou was speaking to BBC Sportsound after the game with Jane Lewis suggesting his team were booed off the pitch after the game.

But Postecoglou wasn’t interested as he quickly bit back: “Did you say they were towards us? Were they booing us?”

Lewis then elaborated, admitting you can never know for sure but that it seemed that way.

And Postecoglou responded with a firm defence of the home fans who he says have every right to be frustrated.

He went on: “I didn’t feel that. Our supporters were understanding. They were just as frustrated as us, I wouldn’t expect them to be euphoric about it. If they were booing us, I didn’t get that impression. Maybe I didn’t hear them.”

With pre and post match one-to-one access to the Celtic manager BBC Scotland have a privileged position that other media outlets are denied. That carries extra responsibility with Lewis unlikely to be the last reporter to get some backlash from the Celtic manager.

Why do they let the bbc in, are we going back to the Kelly era when you didn’t want to upset anyone and just be gentlemen, tell them to get to f**k out. HH

If you want to hear booing head over to Ibrox. It was definitely an advantage to them last season to lock out their own support.
