Ange Postecoglou has apologised to Scottish industry for a drop in Tuesday afternoon productivity.

School truancy rates were also impacted by yesterday’s 2-0 Europa League win over Ferencvaros as many school pupils enjoyed alternative lessons in patience, perseverance and teamwork.

More than 50,000 fans made it to Celtic Park for a 3.30pm Tuesday kick off with thousands more watching at home, at work or sneaking a look while in education as Angeball took a few steps further forward.

A wonder goal, and assist from Jota will long be talked about as fans recall the bizarre circumstances that led to the usual kick-off time for a Europa League match.

Afterwards The Scotsman reports the Celtic boss saying:

I apologise to all the employers who had little productivity today as they were missing people and schools may have been empty, but they come here, create an energy and we have to match that with our football. When we have that, and it’s happened in the past for sure, you become a formidable force. There’s no reason why we can’t [win in Budapest]. We went to Betis and took the game to them [in the 4-3 defeat]. I know we lost it having made a couple of mistakes defensively, but that gave us belief we can match the best teams even away from home.

After yesterday’s escape it is back to work and reality for the fans who have three days to get through before Saturday’s match against St Johnstone.

There will be less glamour and attention on the visit from the Perth side but full points on Saturday will take Celtic to a point behind their city rivals.
