Ange Postecoglou has given a Kenny Dalglish style ‘mibbees aye, mibbees naw’ response to Celtic’s January transfer plans.

The hoops boss was busy rebuilding a squad throughout the summer transfer window with Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard sold on the last day as Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Giorgos Giakoumakis made the opposite journey.

Due to the failings of last season it could take four windows for Postecoglou to get the quality and strength that he requires while expected to deliver results and progress domestically and in Europe.

The January window is five weeks away with expectations that Celtic will again be busy having generated a transfer surplus during the summer from selling Kris Ajer and Edouard.

Speaking to Postecoglou after the defeat to Leverkusen the Daily Record reports:

When it was mentioned that January can be a notoriously tough time to acquire real top-class talent, Postecoglou offered a tantalising response for fans as he just said: “Maybe…maybe not. Let’s just see.”

Last January Jonjoe Kenny on loan from Everton was the only incoming deal, 12 months earlier Peter Lawwell brought in Patryk Klimala and Ismaila Soro. Digging bag to January 2019 Vakoun Bayo and Marian Shved were the permanent deals with Oli Burke, Timo Weah and Jeremy Toljan arriving on loan.

Postecoglou has sounded fairly confident about bringing players in, with Japan a likely source, but January looks like being an anxious watch to see what business can get over the line.

When you see some of the names mentioned, Liewell brought more than his fair share of crap to the club. That toolbag thought he was the director of football. Thank eff he’s gone.
