My concern is growing- McCoist braced for Gerrard walking away

Ally McCoist fears that Gerrard to Villa is about to become a DONE DEAL.

The former Ibrox boss has been at his cheeky chappie best over the last 15 months on the back of the behind-closed-doors and no-positive-tests-here SPFL title win manufactured by the Liverpool legend.

This season in front of fans the shine has started to dim on Gerrard’s achievements highlighted by home and away defeats from Malmo. At least under McCoist they managed a 0-0 draw at home before the calamitous defeat in Sweden.

McCoist, Kris Boyd, Alex Rae and the usual subjects had been burying their heads in the sand since Sunday’s announcement that Villa had sacked Dean Smith and were on the lookout for a new manager.

Piece by piece the jigsaw was put together during Tuesday, on TalkSPORT this morning McCoist had to deal with the reality with the Daily Record picking up on his comments:

The longer it goes on, my concern is growing, it’s the best league in the world and Villa are a top team, I really like Villa.

I’m gutted for Dean Smith, I think he should have been given more time. In terms of Steven going there, I still think it’s a gamble, I really do, but any job’s a gamble.

In December 2014 McCoist walked away from Ibrox soon after being drawn against Celtic in the semi-final of the League Cup.
