From the other end of Hampden a brilliant image has emerged of the pre-match Tifo display in honour of Bertie Auld.
Not many people are recognised simply by their first name but the letters held up around Hampden are testimony to how highly regarded the former midfielder is.
It was an emotional night at Hampden from the moment that the Celtic players stepped onto the pitch, every one of them wearing the number 10 on their shorts.

Whenever Bertie was about silence was a rarity, just before kick off close to 50,000 fans cheered and chanted his name as his image beamed down on Hampden from the scoreboards behind each goal.
The match that followed was scrappy but in true Bertie fashion Celtic grafted their way to victory, brushing aside their physical opponents to deliver a place in next month’s League Cup Final.
