John Swinney’s incredible own goal over League Cup Final claim

John Swinney has singled out Sunday’s League Cup Final at Hampden as a potential ‘super-spreader’ event while ignoring other gatherings over the last week.

There was another football match played in front of almost 50,000 fans on Saturday while indoor shopping centres throughout the country were busy with Christmas shoppers.

Football matches with crowds of over 10,000 require fans to produce vaccine certification but you can get on a train from Aberdeen to London without any documentation.

An open air venue provides natural ventilation for vaccinated fans but unvaccinated shoppers can be mixing for hours on end with no further restrictions in place from Sunday while football effectively closes the doors.

Deputy First Minister Swinney was sent out on the media circuit yesterday with the Daily Record reporting:

Swinney told BBC Radio Scotland: “It stands to reason that if we have large numbers of people, 50,000 fans, travelling towards a sporting event in one particular part of the country, using multiple modes of transport and interacting with each other, there is a very high danger that that will be a super spreader of an event.”

Asked whether the cup final has the potential to be a super spreader event, the DFM replied: “It could well be and I think I regret the fact that we didn’t make this decision earlier.”

He added: “I would have wished we’d taken the decision earlier. That’s nobody’s fault. I was one of the people involved in the decision.”

Having been asked specifically about the League Cup Final it seems very naive of Swinney not to mention Saturday’s match at Ibrox in the same context.

In August 2020 Swinney was forced into a humiliating U-turn on exam results after using a system that rewarded pupils at traditionally better performing schools ahead of pupils at other schools regardless of classwork before the March Lockdown.

Call me cynical but can’t help but think the only regret is seeing Celtic lift the cup. Had Celtic lost then there would be questions or comments. Their hurt and bias only adds to our pleasure.

He didn’t single out the final; he was asked a question and he answered it. Honestly. And he’s probably right, however much we enjoyed the result. You would no doubt also be complaining at a dishonest answer. You’re demanding consistency from politicians when you’re inconsistent yourself

You are correct about he was asked the Question the problem lay with the person(ANTI CELTIC) from the BBC Radio Scotland who should have asked about all the football at the weekend was a super spreader . I do not think Mr Swinney is a football fan in general or he would have knew he was set up with the Question about the final being a super spreader I also believe if we had lost the final the Question would not have been asked, only in this wee bigoted country this could happen.

Dear Celts . Please control your thoughts . I am a Celt for going on 76 years and involved in football for much of that time as a player or coaching my love of the game . I can certainly know where you come from as the shit and biase from our nation is rotten from refereees to the reporting. Bring back Arthur Montford please an honest Greenock Morton Supporter. Look I could write a book on referees from the 1950’s to present day and I believe Celts would agree with much I would write .. Hail Hail Please I have to stop now as I could open hearts of my Celtic connection if I carried on with many facts from my era … In Govan I never had a bad game as they chanted Fen – Bast to the wee Gorbals fitba player . I like many others could have bad games but not with these animals supporting the wee gers just a along from ibrox built by the glasgow corporation 1938 i think exibition games … lol

It was a trap and he walked right into it. Anyone who can’t see it for what it was (an attempt to sway a few voters to the Britnat side (yes, thats what they are as much as you may hope otherwise)), is really scraping the bottom of the barrel
