Celtic fans rallied behind a tweet from John Paul Taylor as Fake News from the Daily Mail was highlighted, called out and corrected.
One excited reporter on a very slow news day went over the top at some pictures of police cars close to around 30 Celtic fans outside of McDiarmid Park while the hoops took on St Johnstone.
Taking advantage of the gaps between the stands the fans had a decent diagonal view of the pitch although it is unlikely that they saw much of the first two goals.
Katie Feehan of the Daily Mail decided to add some incredible top spin to the images with a sub-editor piling in with tales of a clash with police and attempting to storm the near empty stadium.
Unfortunately it never happened. If it had Sky Sports would have been able to share the action live across their various channels and platforms.
These sort of stories will surface a few times a year, create a minor storm on social media and are quickly forgotten about with Celtic almost always opting for the silent treatment.
Whether anyone more senior than the Supporters Liaison Officer takes up the matter remains to be seen, an apology would be welcomed but more importantly put down a marker for future media coverage.
With Taylor taking up the issue, eyes are now on the Celtic hierarchy to see if it was a one-off or a line in the sand about how the club expects to be treated.
Just to clarify some inaccurate reports from yesterday. There was no clash with Police, no storm of gates, a handful of fans went to cheer their team from a an area which was away from the Stadium. Police were agreeable to this and fans dispersed at FT without any issue

That’s the same paper who published a 1-1 draw with Ross County. Ban them.

I see the ‘reporter’ works for Mail online they are a law unto themselves that lot. Only way to deal with that is revoking the press pass of the Mail reporter or no online question to any member of the club in press days, until an apology is put out.

Is the club going to challenge this John Paul?
It’s about time they got the lawyers involved.— Kevin Hackett (@KevHackett83) December 27, 2021

It was also a thinly veiled attack on the Scottish Govt and Covid restrictions.
Never Trust a Unionist and their gutter press.
The board wont speak out when our players are getting assaulted on the pitch and refs are turning a blind eye to it
Do you think they’re gonna speak out when slag hacks like this are doing hatchet jobs on our fans ?
