For the best part of one minute Hugh Keevins was in his element, full of Celtic bashing as he savoured Paul Hanlon’s opener for Hibs at Hampden yesterday.

It sounded like Christmas had come early for the veteran broadcaster as he contemplated a devastating defeat for Celtic as he gloried in his observations about Celtic’s dodgy defending.

Despite the evidence of the SPFL table and a place in the League Cup Final, Keevins can’t resist having a go at the Celtic defence, to go alongwith his day one prediction that the hoops wouldn’t make the top two in the SPFL as Steven Gerrard delivered further glory at Ibrox.

It was all there, brewing up nicely after Celtic had dominated the first half but failed to put the ball in the Hibs net.

A week full of complaints about Celtic was in the offing, with a Glasgow derby looming Keevins could feast on his own vindication as pained hoops fans took to the airwaves.

And then it all went so badly, badly wrong. Quickly.

Radio Clyde, Superscoreboard, Sunday December 19 5 minutes 40 seconds in

Following news of the opening goal at Hampden

Hugh Keevins: Well they are a disaster at the back Celtic. They are an on-going, unmitigated disaster. They can’t defend free-kicks, they can’t defend corner-kicks and that might very well be the only goal of this final.

And Celtic only have themselves to blame, Starfelt’s header to concede the corner kick was awful. He can neither head them in at one end or keep them out properly at the other.

So Hibs having done nothing at all in this game have taken the lead in this game, I would not be surprised if that is the only goal of the final.

Gordon Duncan: Mark Wilson, that is brilliant from Hibs’ perspective and leaves a whole lot to be desired from Celtic’s

MARK WILSON: Yeah, give credit Hibs first and foremost, oh, there we go

GOALFLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gordon Duncan: Hibs 1, Celtic 1- Kyogo equalises straight away for Ange Postecoglou’s side, what a game this is all of a sudden, Hugh Keevins

Hugh Keevins: That is the quickest duff predictions I’ve ever had go wrong.

Well I have got to agree starfelt defending was a bomb scare and Hart also to blame should have got out of his goal area to a least punch it out or catch it. The shout for a penalty just about evens things up for us over the years honest mistakes from the blue refs so well done celtic and all the coaching staff .

Everybody on tv were talking about hibs penaly shout, the same thing happened in the first half when Taylor was pushed over, not a word from the pundits or half wits.
