Everton are apparently closing in on a £10m swoop for a player that has started less than 10 SPFL matches.

Hype to sell a player is reaching incredible levels with Merseyside sources leaking news of the transfer to the Daily Record.

During the summer transfer window Rafa Benitez spent just £2m with today’s home defeat from Brighton confirming that Everton are facing a grim battle in the bottom half of the table.

It would seem to the outsider that tried and tested additions are required for the dog fight but the Daily Record reports:

Everton are closing in on a £10million plus swoop for Rangers defender Nathan Patterson.  The Toffees are in advanced talks with the Ibrox side over a January move.

Merseyside sources have stated that Everton are confident of striking a deal for the Scottish international in the coming days.

The Toffees failed in multiple bids in the last window but believe they can now get a deal over the line in this window.

Patterson has made one SPFL appearance at right-back this season, spending most of his time on the bench before starting the last match of 2021 at left-back due to injuries.

A fee in the region of £3m might be more realistic with add-ons if he ever gets anywhere close to first team football.

This is being reported in the English and Merseyside press with some amount of significant detail, looks like a goer unfortunately

Sports direct money + need more.

  • Craig Gallagher says:

Has got to be the old “undisclosed fee” written all over it. Benitez isn’t that daft to spend £10m on him as the laddie cannot defend. Maybe as a winger, but as a RB in the EPL? not a chance, he’ll get turned inside out & back up the road after a season or end up at Preston or some team like that.

Even as a Celtic man through n through, I’d say £10M AND the rest! English teams have to stop this irrational mindset that because a player is Scottish he is not as valuable as an English player !! Time for teams to start paying real valuations, I can only state the case of Bournemouth getting Ryan Christie for £2M plus add ins !!!

  • Jim Duffy says:

Pat I know what you’re saying but what exactly has Ryan Christie done ,since he went down there ,we let him go because rightly or wrongly we didn’t think he was good enough because we never offered him good terms ,I’m sure I will do alright as a mediocre player in the EPL but no regrets.hes no that good

Get Celtic aff the front page story…

  • Jim Duffy says:

Your spot on starry ,get Celtic feel good stories Tae fuck, this guy signing for everton will definitely be an undisclosed fee ,aka the daily ranger/ Sevco.

This seems to be a common game every transfer window, we are all sick of the fat Colombians worth or lack of. The 2nd generation are skint, why would anyone pay them double a true worth.
Patterson is a raw potential, why pay over the odds(John Joe Kenny has been on Everton’s books for years and we seen at close quarters how bad he is).
This seems to be getting more serious with every passing transfer window.
Anyone looking forward to a 3rd generation of fraudulent activity, with the knowledge that the 2nd generation spent money to buy a title they couldn’t afford. That is a repeating story, as all Celtic fans know
