Mate I don’t know, it doesn’t matter- Ange refuses to play ball with Sky Sports

Sky’s trackside reporter at Tynecastle was on the receiving end of the mate treatment from Ange Postecoglou last night.

Bubbling away in the background to the match was the claim that Kyogo Furuhashi’s winning goal against Hearts should have been disallowed for offside. Robbie Neilson and Kris Boyd both rattled on about it even though there isn’t one conclusive clip with Scottish football refusing to bring in VAR.

Celtic’s second goal at Tynecastle was a borderline decision, Liam Boyce’s for Hearts was clearly offside with the 18-yard line there as a helping guide to the assistant referee.

Neilson was shown on Sky Sports demonstrating with referee Bobby Madden in the tunnel at half time, but still made it back to the dug-out for the second half.

The accepted wisdom seems to be that because Celtic had got away with one in the first half it was a case of levelling up to allow the Hearts goal to stand.

Postecoglou just wasn’t buying into that theory.

Mate, I don’t know – they love talking about decisions here, don’t they? I like analysing the game of football. Theirs is offside, ours is offside, mate – it doesn’t matter.

We played really well and created a lot of chances and probably should have finished the game off earlier.

They got their goal and the crowd got behind them and gave them a lift, but even then, I thought we defended really well and it’s great to get three points.

Joe,ref was Beaton. Our goal was too close to call, theirs wasn’t.

  • Tony Douglas says:

Once again Hearts claim an offside instead of putting their hands up and saying that it was poor defending. Boyce was not, as the Daily Rangers….sorry Record claimed, marginally offside he was clearly offside when the ball is played and in real time would have looked massively offside.

  • Peter Cassidy says:

3rd rate bent linesmen and a bluenose ref and we still came home with 3 points but we should be scoring more goals we can’t trust any of the officials who ref our games.

  • James Aiton says:

What we need is more Hatate goals, so there can be no ambiguity about was he on or offside.
