Ally McCoist and Andy Walker has plenty to discuss as they watched Celtic dominate the Glasgow derby to go to the top of the Premiership table for the first time this season.

Bizarrely the Celtic ball-boys provided a talking point, apparently upsetting Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Allan McGregor during the second half.

For the Dutchman his unbeaten record was dismantled in 45 dramatic minutes that saw three of his first picks left in the dressing room including £37m Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo.

Two months into his reign van Bronckhorst is facing a crisis, for McGregor the pressure of being required to bail out faltering defenders at the age of 40 looks like it is taking its toll.

Amid the carnage the match was paused as referee Bobby Madden spoke to a member of the Celtic ground-staff with the Daily Record reporting:

The Sky Sports commentary team claimed that the Rangers gaffer has told the officials that the ballboys were taking to long to give the ball back to his players.

Referee Bobby Madden could be seen walking over to the touchline to discuss the issue with a member of the behind the scenes Celtic team.

It immediately raised eyebrows from commentators Andy Walker and McCoist.

Walker laughed it off, insisting that the Dutchman “surely has bigger things to worry about” with his side failing to make an impact on the game.

McCoist brushed aside any complaints from the manager, joking: “I have to be quite honest I think the ball boys are doing Rangers a favour’.”

After starting 2022 with a six point lead at the top of the table van Bronckhorst’s side could kick-off Sunday’s game against Hearts trailing Celtic by four points.
