Big George- Chris Sutton’s 12 word salute to new Celtic hero

Chris Sutton always has a particular interest in bulky, physical strikers. He perfected that area of the game to win titles in Scotland and England.

Celtic don’t really have much of a tradition in that role but today they had Giorgos Giakoumakis to thank for three vital points that represents the gap at the top of the Premiership table tonight.

Kyogo Furuhashi and Jota are more of the traditional type of Celtic hero but over the course of a season a team requires lots of different attributes to deliver success.

In the first half of the season Giakoumakis was something of a peripheral figure, there had been signs of ability but a very poorly taken penalty against Livingston was a serious black mark.

With Kyogo out injured and Daizen Maeda settling into the club Giakoumakis has come into his own with important goals today and away to Hearts.

He didn’t score in the Glasgow derby but the Ibrox defenders certainly knew that they had been in a game, with 11 ugly fixtures left the Greek striker could have a big influence on whether or not Celtic regain the SPFL Premiership title.

Well done Georgios for the hat trick and a big high five to Nir Bitton for coming on and steadying the ship.

Good on the big man for getting his hat trick, hopefully he’s silenced some of the remaining doubters.

I would say sutty “perfected” being bulky as he was a lang streak o’ piss (but physical with it). You want to talk about units of the era I refer you to BBJ and Bobo!

Delighted for the big fella, that’ll settle him and the confidence he gets from being a hat-trick hero should prompt P Power to pay out early..
Just like old times, sevco bottler bankers and the Mighty Glasgow Celtic sailing towards yet another league triumph and perhaps another treble!!

Delighted for the big man, but he needs to keep his comments inside the dressing room. Saying that we have the best squad in the league, and I think we will win the league, will motivate our rivals, they will have they comments up on there dressing room door. I’m happy for him on football pitch, and delighted today. But I’d rather it was the old fashioned 1 game at a time stuff he was saying. Apart from that, I’m delighted.

The Hun have the best first 11.. probably…but Celtic HAVE the best squad , the BEST support and ARE the biggest team in Scotland !
