It didn’t quite carry the same drama as a famous winner from Sergio Aguero in 2012 but Joe Hart was equally thrilled by Giorgos Giakoumakis against Dundee today.
Celtic were well short of their best as they laboured towards a 2-2 draw against the side as the bottom of the table when the Greek striker completed his hat-trick with less than five minutes left to play.
Tony Ralston sent over an inviting cross with Giakoumakis stooping low to direct a header into the near post to the relief and joy of the home fans. And Hart at the other end of the pitch.
With Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side dropping two points in the lunchtime kick off at Tannadice the pressure was on Celtic to take full advantage of that slip when they kicked off an hour later.
Winning a title requires more than just a group of skilful footballers, against the two clubs from Dundee over the last month Celtic have had to dig deep to pull out results but with their seventh successive SPFL win of 2022 the hoops have racked up a nine point swing in their favour.
