Alfredo Morelos somehow managed to avoid a red card as his temper got the better of him during the 1-1 draw against Dundee United.

Last season the Colombian international ace was given a retrospective red card in the fixture after referee Steven McLean felt that a forearm smash was only worth a yellow.

Morelos was given a second retrospective red for a stamp on Ryan Porteous which was missed by Nick Walsh, it is now 26 months since a red card was shown to the former HJK Helsinki starlet.

The first incident today was in full view of Bobby Madden as Morelos decided to elbow Tony Watt in the chest as he prepared to face a free-kick from James Tavernier. After drawing attention to the incident Watt and Morelos were both given a quiet word by the forgiving referee from East Kilbride.

Soon afterwards the Ibrox star ran at Ross Graham with his elbow out, Madden spotted that incident and decided that it was worth a booking.

During 2021 no Ibrox stars were sent off by Scottish referees, in Europe Kemar Roofe, Leon Balogun, John Lundstram and Glen Kamara were all sent off.

Did you ever play football. The 2nd one especially was primary school stuff. Let’s not just exaggerate because it’s moreorless. Jack should have walked, a different story altogether. My only interest is them dropping 2 points, they should have had a penalty so well done Bobby in not giving it.

Exaggerate? No, let’s apply the rules of the game evenly to all players regardless of which team they play for. It’s dismissive attitudes like yours that allow worse than this crap to go unpunished. We’re not talking about rough tackling here, elbowing opponents is a flagrant breach of the rules, never mind an actual unprovoked assault which would get the twat arrested on the street, if the fuzz didn’t know who he was. This crap needs eliminated from the game just as much as the sort of thuggery Jack indulges in.
A for the penalty they should have had? Boo-hoo. It doesn’t even begin to make up for the dozens they shouldn’t have had.

Exactly, worse than this, he should have been sent off for previously. He would not have been sent off for this in this in the Alice in Wonderland league. It provokes responses like below which do nothing for the site. Stop moaning about them and enjoy us being top of the league.

Oh I very much am enjoying us being top of the league but it doesn’t matter what you or I think is harsh or weak. What matters is the rules of the game being applied evenly and when it comes to violent conduct by Sevco players or against our players these are very much not. Also I wouldn’t say pointing out refereeing incompetence (bias) is moaning. The “honest mistakes” narrative needs to be put to bed and the corrupt reality brought into the light. Too many people (Tims included) still believe the “evens out over the course of a season” pish. If we allow this to continue without question we will be “honest mistaked” out of the title, and that must not happen!

  • David Tolmie says:
