Neil Lennon’s possible return to management seems to be causing some confusion at the Manchester Evening News.

In Lancashire the Irishman is best known as the former manager of Bolton Wanderer but someone on their digital staff has got mixed up over his other managerial credits.

Lennon has also managed Celtic twice and also at Hibs but at no stage was he manager of Rangers before the Ibrox club was sent into liquidation in 2012.

In the old days of the printing press there were highly trained sub-editors who could spot a spelling mistake from a mile away, knew every options for an apostrophe and the back story of everyone in football.

As old school publishers chase clicks from a younger audience old-school standards have been abandoned with sub-editors among the first casualties of budget cuts.

Spelling mistakes used to be so rare that Private Eye collected them but these days no-one at the MEN bothered to check the copy after pressing the Publish button on the story linking Lennon with AC Omonio Nicosia of Cyprus.

CLICK HERE to visit the MEN story which has probably been corrected.

Off topic here but on FF today they have a thread about corrupt refs in Scotland and get ready for this the four that the sevco klan have more grievances with and who they see corrupt more than others is Beaton,Robertson,Madden and Clancy.
You couldn’t make that up if you tried.
