Karamoko Dembele is reported to be in talks over an international switch.

The teenager has been part of the England youth set up from a young age, selecting the St George’s Park set up ahead of the Scottish FA despite spending almost all of his life in Glasgow.

Progressing all the way to full international level with England is a massive challenge but it is reported that the Ivory Coast, where both of his parents were born, are showing interest in luring the young Celt with talks taking place with national coach Patrice Beaumelle .

Football Scotland reports:

Football Scotland can reveal talks had been at an early stage until this week when he and his representatives met with Beaumelle and Les Éléphants FA personnel in London.

It is understood Beaumelle would like to hand him a full cap in the summer during their next round of fixtures.

It is also understood Karamoko’s brother Siriki – who is eligible for Scotland and has been watched by Steve Clarke – was also involved in discussions at the meeting.

Until he places in a competitive international at full level Karamoko is free to play for any country that he qualifies through birth, his parents’ birth or through his passport.

The Ivory Coast play England in a friendly tonight at Wembley, they have missed out on qualification to the World Cup Finals in Qatar.
