Ibrox commentator defends his Rocco Vata comments

Tom Miller has responded on Twitter to being called an absolute weirdo.

The Rangers TV commentator was on duty at a Glasgow Cup tie at Murray Park where Rocco Vata took one of the penalty-kicks.

Years of commentaries from Ibrox will have given Miller a detailed knowledge of his customer base and their hatred for almost anything linked to the Irish Republic.

Playing to the gallery is a big part of being involved with in-house club broadcasting, as Vata prepared his penalty Miller added:

He’s qualified to play international football for Scotland, Albania, Republic of Ireland… guess which he has picked.

Playing for The Tribute Act was Coventry born Charlie McCann. While with Manchester United McCann was a Republic of Ireland midfielder, after switching to Ibrox last summer he also switched his international side to Northern Ireland. I’m sure Miller knows the reasons for that switch.

In 2019 UEFA twice closed areas of Ibrox for Europa League matches due to racist chanting in previous games.

  • Seppington says:

Play for albania, which beyond his father he will have little attachment to. Play for Scotland, a country that’s filled with people who want to be up to their knees in his blood. Aye guess who he chose to play for.

Absolute scumbag just like every single one of them.

  • Tony B says:

    Passive/aggressive? No.

    Racist? Yes.

    This is who they are.

    • Jim says:

Seppington. Filled with people who want to be up to their knees in fenian bllod. What an outrageous generalisation l. You write some nonsence but this is bollocks.

Editor: Out of 25,000 ticket holders at Hampden how many do you think were singing The Billy Boys? I’d guess around 20,000 and haven’t noticed any supporter or Supporters group criticise the singing. Naturally, not a word from their club with the SFA also on mute.

      • Seppington says:

“Filled” may be an exaggeration but there are thousands upon thousands of them, no? When the four sides of Ayebrokes are spewing forth their hate do you find that a nice, welcoming environment? Would you want to play for those peepul?

It doesn’t matter where you go in this country, if you are wearing the hoops there’s a good chance you’re going to get grief from some bluenosed thugs. I’m just sick to death of them Jim, if you aren’t then that’s your problem.

        • Jim says:

Seppington, you really are a dark depressing person. When we are winning you are never around because you have no opportunity to moan. Open your big heavy black curtains and come out of your room. You might enjoy it especially if the sun is shining.
I followed our team all over Scotland for decades, sure there are idiots in most supports including our own. Roaming in the gloaming. Bigotry for sure at Ipox and tynecastle and Airdrie. As for the rest and I visited around 20 stadiums around the country and never faced it. Wether you believe that or not, I couldn’t give a fck. At least you admitted that you exaggerated, that was my issue entirely. I have friends supporting a number of teams especially Hibs Dundee utd, Dunfermline etc, even a few close friends and in laws that support rangers, they have never been bigots as I would clamp down on them straight away.

          • Seppington says:

I apologise Jim (and to anyone else who maybe was offended by that comment), I should have been clearer. when I said the “up to their knees” thing. I was refererring strictly to huns (and maybe some jam tarts, I haven’t had any dealing with Airdrie fans at any time).

I have no issues with other fans of other clubs, I have no issues witrh the average protestant on the street (in fact at least half of my closest friends in life have been protestant/non-denominational).

This is a disease that seems to affect mostly one kind of person, and they tend to mostly be attracted to one particular klub. Unfortunately said klub has hordes of fans in every town and city in the land, and they are not shy about letting you know they are there.

As for only being around when things aren’t going well, that’s not true at all but I really only comment when I have something to say. When it comes to the good stuff others have usually said it for me so I don’t waste time repeating their points, that’s all.

          • Seppington says:

Actually, on reading my earlier comment, how could you not see where I said “bluenosed thugs”? I’ve only ever heard one set of fans referred to by that name, so am I missing something?

      • Jim says:

Read his comment editor. No mention of ipox fans. Do you really want a response from other supporters organisations who know how cretinous they are. Maybe East Fife
Partick thistle and Morton supporters organisation will start a petition. Get a grip.

  • Sophie Johnstone says:

Truth hurts Jim,no reply needed we know

    • Jimmy says:

Fair enough Seppingtin. You see my point in its entirety. I apologise for going too far. My disdain for the Moronic bigots attached to Ipox is clear. They are Scum of the earth and I despise them.
