Barry Ferguson fears that Celtic are closing in on a treble.

Back in April he was in the Alloa dug-out as Ange Postecoglou’s side came through a bruising Scottish Cup tie as they set off on the road to Hampden.

Celtic have now won 15 of their 16 domestic matches in 2022 and face their city rivals twice over the next three weekends as they look to add to the League Cup picked up in December.

Ferguson’s joy from last season’s title success has been replaced by concern and worry- underlined by Celtic winning the last two derby matches with the momentum firmly in their favour.

Picking up on his appearance on Go Radio, the Daily Record reports Ferguson saying:

Five games to go, six points behind. What Rangers need to do is concentrate on each game as it comes, Europa League on Thursday, Scottish Cup on Sunday against Celtic, just winning games of football and hope that Celtic at some stage falter.

But if I’m being brutally honest, I can’t see that happening with the sort of form Celtic are in. I want Rangers to beat both Braga and Celtic, of course.

Come Sunday, I don’t know how to put it. It’s massive, absolutely massive that they try and make sure they’re in that cup final against Hearts or Hibs but it’s going to be tough, you just see the form Celtic are in, they’re relentless.

While Celtic prepare and focus on Sunday’s match the Ibrox squad have to take on Braga on Thursday night looking to overcome a 1-0 defeat from the first leg.

Bobby Madden will referee Sunday’s semi-final, his second Glasgow Derby of the season.
