Without any context of questioning BBC Scotland reporter Chris McLaughlin has published in full tonight’s Ibrox statement handed to media partners The Herald.

The state broadcaster had more than a dozen staff and pundits inside Celtic Park today providing radio commentary and television highlights.

On Radio Scotland Richard Gordon, Pat Bonner and Neil McCann described incidents following the final whistle.

Around five hours after the final whistle the Ibrox club issued a statement to The Herald knowing that other broadcasters would take their claims far and wide. BBC Scotland reporter McLaughlin was at the front of the queue.

Last month a Celtic physio was struck on the head by a glass bottle at half time during Celtic’s win at Ibrox, no public comment was made by either club.

No explanation has ever been given on how broken glass managed to get into Joe Hart’s penalty box at half-time in that match. Despite their vast resources BBC Scotland have opted not to follow up on that issue.

Regularly during today’s match The Billy Boys was sung by away fans, BBC Scotland have yet to comment on that or apologise to radio listeners.
