Kyogo Furuhashi scored at Celtic Park for the first time in 2022, choosing the perfect moment to celebrate in front of the fans that adore him.

It has been a long wait since his early goal against Hearts in December that upset Kris Boyd so much, since then he has suffered two hamstring injuries, scored a cup final double against Hibs at Hampden and headed Celtic in front away to Ross County.

A full house at Celtic Park seems the perfect backdrop for the Japanese striker who marked his first home appearance with a hat-trick against Dundee back in August.

A lot of water, goals and drama have flowed since then but as he bravely headed Celtic in front against Hearts yesterday everyone in the stadium appreciated the significance. After the shock of losing an early goal Celtic were in front at the interval and on schedule for three of the four points needed to be champions.

Kyogo watched the final stages from the dug-out before joining in the after-match celebrations. This Saturday he should have a big shiny trophy to recognise the efforts of his team-mates over the course of a highly memorable season again played out in front of supporters.
