Chris Jullien is apparently attracting interest from ‘several Lique 1 clubs’ ahead of the summer transfer window.

The defender has been fit since the turn of the year but struggled to make it onto the Celtic bench as Ange Postecoglou’s side surged to the SPFL Premiership title.

Celtic paid Toulouse £7m for Jullien in the summer of 2019 but a combination of factors mean that there is little prospect of any sort of worthwhile transfer fee in return this summer.

Injury has restricted Jullien to just 16 minutes of play in the last 17 months, at the age of 29 with a year left on his contract it is likely that a season long loan deal reducing Celtic’s wage bill is the most likely solution over the summer.

David Friel, who exclusively broke the news that Neil Lennon was quitting Celtic last February, told Sun readers about Jullien’s situation:

CHRISTOPHER JULLIEN is attracting interest from France as he starts to weigh up his Celtic future.

SunSport understands several Ligue 1 clubs are monitoring the defender’s situation and could launch moves this summer.

Jullien didn’t make the bench against Motherwell on Saturday and made a point of thanking the fans on the pitch afterwards.

The 29-year-old last week admitted he will consider his future in the coming weeks after failing to reclaim his place in the Celtic side.

With Nir Bitton moving on and Cameron Carter-Vickers’ loan deal expired sorting out central defensive options will be a summer priority for Ange Postecoglou.
