Ange Postecoglou has brought in his first new face of the transfer window after adding Benji Siegrist to his squad.

The keeper was available as a free agent after completing four seasons with Dundee United, tonight he agreed a four year contract with the SPFL champions.

Siegrist put in two very impressive displays at Celtic Park last season, losing goals to Liel Abada on each occasion but demonstrating enough ability to prove his case to the Celtic boss.

Vasilis Barkas recently moved out on loan to Utrecht leaving Scott Bain and new bhoy Siegrist to provide competition to Joe Hart for a first team place.

Postecoglou told the Celtic website:

I am really pleased to welcome Ben to Celtic and we look forward to working with him. I have had really positive discussions with him.

I know he is hugely enthusiastic about this opportunity and also that he is someone who will add real competition to our goalkeeping position.

We all saw last season the ability that Ben has, as time and again he delivered fantastic performances.’

He is a really talented keeper with the ambition to always work, to develop himself further and to achieve success and I think in signing Ben we have made a very important addition to our squad.

With Siegrist signing up Celtic will almost certainly be looking to get Tobi Oluwayemi out on loan to get some first team experience.

The England u-19 keeper alternated with Ryan Mullen in the Lowland League last season, Mullen has been released with the u-18 keeper getting the chance to experience life in the fifth tier of the Scottish game.
