Calvin Bassey is being tipped for an Erling Haaland type move to Germany.

Two years ago the striker moved from RB Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund in a £20m move, next month he joins Manchester City in a £70m deal.

Over the last week Daily Record readers have learned how Bassey-mania has swept the United States on the back of two defeats for Nigeria followed by Sergio Porrini tipping the former Leicester starlet for a move to Italy.

Strangely, all of the transfer speculation has originated from Scotland with hee-haw from elsewhere.

Listening in to Stephen Craigen discuss Bassey on Go Radio, the Record reports:

If someone is willing to come in and pay £25million, that’s what he is worth.

Looking at Calvin Bassey and his performances, particularly against Dortmund and Leipzig, I would be very surprised if there wasn’t German clubs looking at him.

The German market is strong and they don’t mind spending £18-£20million on a younger player.

You think even about Erling Haaland when he came in, Dortmund are a club that are willing to spend that thinking they can get the £50-£60million when they sell them on.

His performances against Dortmund and Leipzig will have opened the eyes of German clubs, who will think ‘can we pinch him? Can we bring him in?’

He doesn’t want to go to a club and not play. I just wonder if there is a stepping stone somewhere else before he goes to the English Premier League. The link is natural with Steven Gerrard, and he was sensational over the last few months of the season.

Gerrard resisted the temptation to swoop for Bassey during the January transfer window having largely left him out of the side during his time at Ibrox.

Bassey is one of the lowest paid players in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad with the deal he got from Leicester in 2020 dwarfed by the contracts given to Kemar Roofe, John Lundstram and Connor Goldson.

I see the Triggers (changed the name of how to describe the sevco fans but I hope you all get my point) at the MONKEYPOX stadium are being fed more Turkish Delight about Bale on his way.
You would think the Triggers in the press would have learned their lesson by now,but hey season books need to be sold.
No doubt the sale of Shirley will be put out there as funding it.

  • Donald Macintyre says:

Transfer windows are boring listening to the same repeats were the 2nd generation are going to make a fortune on a player, from the overweight Colombian to the new transfer wonder kid, no one wants them or if they do the skint club from Ibrox would bite their hand off.
I will be glad when it’s over so that Scotland’s wealthiest club can get on with retaining the league

I absolutely love all these mega money move stories the Daily Retard pump out about Shirley.
It means when the dust has settled and he’s pulling on that ragged blue top in a qualifier after none of it is realised, he’s gonna be miserable as feck and playing his usual dreck again…oh the banter …

I think stevve gee valued morass at £50 million and still not sell him Bassey valuation is like fuel prices evey day it increases for no apparent reason its all bollocks the media trying again to help sell the bigots duds.

    • Scud Missile says:

So if they value Shirley at £25 million plus as a player why don’t they give him a new contract to match the value of him and see how many come in for him then.
I reckon it would be the middle of a doughnut interest wise.

You have to put the words together so they make sense.

  • Tony Douglas says:

Once again one of the Teddy bears is tipped for a move to Villa, Gerrard could field a whole team of blue nose bums he hasn’t signed. No big bids for Kent, Goldson having to sign another contract as no one else wants him. At least it fill the newspapers while Celtic quietly go about their business.
