The Daily Record has turned on the Ibrox club with their Deputy Political Editor Chris McCall getting to the truth of last week’s farcical 150th anniversary dinner invite from the UK Government.

The event was given the full treatment from the Tribute Act with fawning references to the club’s unique place in the fabric of the United Kingdom.

Stewart Robertson, James Bisgrove and John Bennett gave interviews to in-house media about the great honour that had been bestowed on the club. The reality is that the club hired a few rooms at Bute House and shelled out to wine and dine the guests which is believed to have included giants such as Terry Butcher and Alex McLeish.

This afternoon the Record reported:

A UK Government spokesperson said: “Rangers Football Club held an event in Dover House last week to mark their 150th anniversary. Scottish Secretary Alister Jack attended the event and made a short speech. The reception was organised and paid for by the football club.”

In a statement released before the event on June 8, Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson said: “We are very honoured and grateful to have been invited by the Secretary of State for Scotland to this very special event to mark the 150th anniversary of Rangers Football Club.

“I believe it speaks volumes for the contribution Rangers has made to our nation in a positive sense over these years that the club is being recognised in this manner, and we look forward to promoting the good name of Rangers even further this evening to invited guests from across the political spectrum, as well as wider society.”

Rangers were delighted to be hosted by the RT Hon Alister Jack MP at Dover House in Westminster to celebrate our 150th Year.

Really!!!

Apparently Aberdeen are asking to much for their young player linked to Liverpool with the Trigger fans even quoting who would pay £10 million for a player not even tried out in the Scottish league.
Oh ma sides are sore with laughter when they put it out there they got £16 million for a duffer that played a half dozen games for the new klub before getting shot of him to Everton for big money, you couldn’t make it up.

At best, it did seem like a ‘personal’ invitation.

But the details above just makes sevco look like a club pathetically seeking validation.

Rangers FC died in 2012: that will never change. 🙂

Under normal circumstances you would feel some sense of sympathy for people who need so much to be loved that they are willing to subject themselves to public scrutiny scorn and ridicule but then you remember who it is we are talking about and then you just laugh and think thank God I’m a Celtic man.
    Forever Celtic HH
