Earlier this week the Daily Record was informing their army of readers that Borna Barisic was set to join Trabzonspor with a fee in the region of £7m heading for Ibrox.

All of the jigsaw pieces were lined up with a place in the Champions League awaiting the Croatian international star.

Barisic has been down the road a few times before, moonbeams over a move to Roma have been regular down the years with Trabzonspor quickly shifting their attention elsewhere.

In trademark fashion, the Daily Record reports:

Trabzonspor appear to have moved on from their pursuit of Borna Barisic ahead of their shot at the Champions League.

Rangers left-back Barisic recaptured his best form under Gio van Bronckhorst as he played a key role in the run to the Europa League final.

That has caught the eye of the Turkish Super Lig champions after they lifted the title for the first time since 1984 last term.

They must navigate a play-off to reach the group stage and full-back was reportedly a key area the club hoped to strengthen this summer.

Barisic was being tracked by Trabzonspor, with clubs in Serie A also keeping tabs on the 29-year-old. However, the club look to have moved on from the Croatian international during their recruitment drive.

They have signed left-back Eren Elmali from Kasimpasa to plug the key gap in their backline as their push for the Champions League.

That could signal a stay in the Scottish Premiership for the 29-year-old, or could signal an opening for Italian sides to make their move.

It is believed that interest from Trabzonspor came to a halt as they viewed the first half of the February Glasgow derby.

Turning 30 later this year it looks like there will be no Ibrox escape for Barisic who is under contract until May 2024.

Aye calum mcgregor chasing after him shouting your a shitbag…then Barasic deciding to sit and have one, as Abada ghosts past him, to score the third goal wasn’t a good look.

Pishful thinking bollocks designed to impress their stupid reader demographic ie huns.

Players come and players go, that’s how the football world of transfers go. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t, and so the Carousel spins round. The problem occurs when a player joins a team from Ibrox. The moment they sign on dotted line, they’re tied to that lot for all life.
You see the moral of the story reads, You’re worth £5Mil a damned good fee, but Sevco times that price by 3,
In some other world maybe, but in the real one they’ll go on a Free.

It’s all verisimilitude when these transfer stories of big moves for the Ibrox Galalacticos surface, they have the appearance of being genuine but dig a little and it’s complete nonsense.

The only money they’ve received since their inception in 2012 is for Windass a little over a million pounds and Paterson to Everton which was a fraction of the £16 million sum the smsm were throwing around, it’s closer to £5 million and that’s with add-ons included. They might get some more bites if they stopped the fantasy football valuations they’re currently placing on their players but their players aren’t good enough to attain top dollar.

They look at what we’re doing at Celtic and think they should be getting the same prices but footballers are only worth what a club wants to pay. A touch of reality needs to come into play at Ibrox and when that does eventually happen they might be on the road to the liquidation of a second entity.

How can those directors who’ve been so successful in business outside of that boardroom make such a hash of running their football club? If their supporters started asking these prescient questions then their club wouldn’t be the shambles it already is, still it’s funny for us to witness though.
