Giorgos Giakoumakis signed off his season in style with his first competitive international goal.

After 70 goal-less minutes the Celtic striker sent a powerful header across goal to give Greece the lead in the Nations League tie against Kosovo. Another goal deep in stoppage time gave Gus Poyet’s side a 2-0 win and full points from their four Nations League ties.

A year ago the future looked uncertain for the VVV Venlo striker who topped the scoring charts in the Eredivisie but found his team relegated.

Venlo were keen on a transfer but for some reason it dragged on until the last day of the summer window before a deal was agreed with Celtic the next club on the striker’s CV.

It was a slow start from Giakoumakis but when he scored at Alloa on January 22 it was the first of 16 over four months including a burst of eight between February 20 and March 19.

For good measure he finished his domestic season by scoring in the last three matches of the season including the title clincher away to Dundee United.

With an international goal to his name the striker can enjoy a quick break then return to Celtic in pre-season ready to pick up where he left off.

NOTE: Giakoumakis scored for Greece in a 2-1 win over Cyprus in a friendly in November 2020.

Someone is telling PORKIES here,we read on here constantly that sevco have never received a decent fee for a player, but the daily sevco keep pushing £12 million was given to the from Everton for the shortbread man.
So just who is telling the truth here.

  • Scud Missile says:

Lol the sevco klub going nuts about the striker sensation they have leaving them for Villa.
So much for the cosy friendship eh now the MONKEYPOX klub from ibrox want FIFA to step in and get them the proper money owed to them for the wonder kid Wilson. P
Still never heard of him, though the Triggers on FF thoughint Stevie G would do them a favour as well.
Then again Stevie G is coming back with megabucks for big Shirley with £30 million bucks heading ibrox way.
