Cameron Carter-Vickers has spoken out about his transfer limbo.

The defender spent last season on loan at Celtic, his seventh such deal but remains contract to Spurs for another year.

Ange Postecoglou got the loan deal over the line in the closing hours of the summer 2021 transfer window with all parties apparently keen to make that move permanent.

Deals have to be agreed between both clubs and the player before any transfer can go through with Celtic fans hoping that agreement can be struck this month to allow Carter-Vickers to resume his hoops career.

The 24-year-old kept a low profile in the media during his Celtic loan but speaking to The Sun he said:

I have really enjoyed it at Celtic. We were good to watch and an enjoyable team to play in. I am 24 now and want to be somewhere where I can settle for a few years.

Me and my agent have been talking to the club throughout the season about what’s going to happen at the end of the season but obviously, it’s not just my decision. Celtic have to come to some kind of agreement with Tottenham so it’s not completely in my hands.

I just want to be somewhere playing football. If I’m being completely honest, I think it’s time to move on permanently.

I’m happy with last season. I really enjoyed my time there but what will happen in the future? I’m not too sure. Will I go back? You never know.

I just want to be somewhere where I enjoy my football and get on with the manager. The manager at Celtic is a top manager who wants to play out of the back and keep possession, which suits me.

Those comments will leave fans reading between the lines to see what the real situation is.

‘Keeping your options open’ is the most likely reading of the situation with Spurs known for being utterly ruthless in their transfer dealings.

Getting the maximum package in terms of transfer fee and add-ons will be driving Spurs at the negotiating table with the player appearing open to a permanent Celtic move but equally wise enough to the conditions that have also seen him previously sent out on loan to Swansea, Ipswich, Bournemouth, Sheffield United, Stoke City and Luton Town.
