Nikola Katic has been sent back to Ibrox following an unspectacular loan spell at Hadjuk Split.

With a year left on his contract the defender is another problem for transfer guru Ross Wilson to resolve.

A training ground injury in the 2020/21 pre-season ruled Katic out for 12 months with Leon Balogun brought in to take his place.

With John Souttar joining from Hearts and Connor Goldson renewing his contract Karic is further down the pecking order than ever with Hadjuk not interested in making his move permanent.

Their Sports Director Mindaugas Nikolicius told The Sun:

Nikola Katic is no longer with us, the transfer clause is too big for us. He is returning to Scotland and we thank him and wish him all the best.

Katic started 17 matches for Hadjuk and made four appearances off the bench, picking up seven bookings from Croatian referees.

Wilson already has decisions to make on the contracts of Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo, Ryan Jack and Filip Helander who will all be out of contract in May 2023.

So far the only transfer speculation at Ibrox has been moonbeams about Calvin Bassey accompanied by comparisons to Virgil van Dijk and Kieran Tierney.
