Giovanni van Bronckhorst has missed out on another striking target with Thijs Dallinga opting for French side Toulouse.

There has been a distinct lack of genuine transfer activity, incoming and outgoing, at Ibrox despite the frenzy of flyers surrounding Calvin Bassey, Joe Aribo and Alfredo Morelos.

New contracts for Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Steve Davis confirm the suspicion that the funds aren’t there for a revolution.

In desperation Ibrox fans have turned to Football Manager which unearthed Dallinga. Scoring 36 goals in the Dutch Second Division for Feyenorrd’s Rotterdam rivals Excelsior he seemed perfect for a move to Ibrox where there are doubts over Morelos and Kemar Roofe.

Alas, Dallinga can be scored off the list with little sign of any incoming activity beyond John Souttar.

The Express reports:

Rangers target Thijs Dallinga looks set to join newly promoted Ligue 1 side Toulouse, after previous reports linked him with a move to Ibrox.

The Dutch striker, who bagged an impressive 36 goals in the second tier last season with Excelsior Rotterdam, firing them to promotion, was valued at around £4.3m for potential suitors across Europe. But now it appears the French side are closing in on a deal for around £2m for his services.

Rangers appear to be in the market for a forward, with Croatian forward Antonio Colak also touted as a target for the Light Blues. Colak is well known to the Ibrox crowd after scoring a double against Steven Gerrard’s side last season to deny Rangers the opportunity to play in the Champions League.
