Concerns from Celtic fans about problems over the signing of Jota have increased after the first day of pre-season training at Lennoxtown.

Throughout the summer social media has effectively followed the winger with sightings in Ibiza, New York and Cancun as he made the most of a six week break.

Every report from Portugal has indicated that a permanent move to Celtic was just days away but as Ange Postecoglou’s non-internationalists assembled there was no sign of Jota.

The Everything Celtic account is a reliable source of information, they aren’t in the habit of photoshopping or sharing hoax news.

Celtic and Benfica are believed to have a transfer deal in place but unless the player agrees to move there won’t be any transfer.

One ‘In The Know Benfica Twitter account claimed that the agreement between the two clubs expires on Thursday. If that is the case if Jota isn’t at Lenoxtown this week it looks like there will be no deal with Celtic having to look elsewhere for a winger as Jota eyes up a new destination for his summer travels.

If that’s his plan we’d have known it well before now. I doubt Ange would’ve kept shtum about it, he’s had no problems before in calling out players that don’t want to be here…

Jota. Is a benfica player till 30 th of June when his loan deal expires. Simple. Then it will be finalised.

Editor: He has a contract with Benfica until 2024, Celtic signed Carter-Vickers from Spurs on June 10.

  • Andrew quinn says:

He is under contract till the 30th June 2022 so nothing will happen before then.

  • Jim mccusker says:

If he wanted to be at celtic then surely he would have signed by now?

Or is he just making the fans sweat ?

He best not leave it too long as big Ange might just pull the plug on the deal?
