Celtic’s B team face Albion Rovers in the first round of the SPFL Trust trophy.

Previously known as the Irn-Bru and Petrofac Trophy the competition is again without a sponsor despite involving 11 of the Premiership clubs as well as sides from Ireland. Wales and Northern Ireland.

The First Round tie at Cliftonhill will be played on August 9/10, if successful Celtic B will be at home to the winners of the Bonnyrigg Rose v Livingston B tie with that match a fortnight later.

The first two rounds are regional, the 10 qualifiers will then be joined by Championship and First Division clubs.

Last season Celtic beat Annan Athletic 2-0 in the first round then lost 3-1 at home to Morton with both matches played at Airdrie’s Penny Cars Stadium.

Before the Albion Rovers cup tie Celtic B have five matches in the Lowland League starting with the home match against Cowdenbeath on July 23.
