Ross Wilson is trying desperately to cut the Ibrox payroll with four players told that they are free to leave the club.

Finding clubs to match their Ibrox salaries will be the tricky part especially with Jack Simpson.

Signed in January 2021 from Bournemouth the defender was handed a contract that runs until May 2025 which will almost certainly match the EPL deal he had with the south coast side.

Discussing the cut price Ibrox makeover In The Athletic, man in the know Jordan Campbell reports:

It gives them a squad that looks refreshed, but with Jack SimpsonNikola KaticStephen Kelly and Glenn Middleton all free to find themselves new clubs in the remaining month before deadline day — and Kemar Roofe and Filip Helander unreliable because of chronic fitness struggles — the present squad is too bloated for them to bring in any more bodies.

Katic was a fairly regular partner for Connor Goldson until an unfortunate training ground injury in the summer of 2020 put him out of action for a year.

Last summer a loan deal with Hadjuk Spilt was agreed but the Croatia club decided against making the loan a permanent move.
