Richard Foster is the latest mouthpiece reassuring Ibrox fans that not singing players is the way forward.

Alex Rae, Kenny Miller, Barry Ferguson and Kris Boyd have all been sharing the same message as fans on social media go into meltdown at the failure to sign anyone beyond Bosman arrival John Souttar.

Leon Balogun, Cedric Itten, Aaron Ramsey and Amad Dialo have left since the end of last season with Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo running down the final months of their contracts.

With each window of inactivity in the transfer market the need for the rebuild gets bigger. Celtic’s resurgence built around a well established Player Trading Model contrasts sharply with the failings at Ibrox.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is a month away from the Third Round qualifiers for the Champions League with no sign that the squad that lost out to Malmo a year ago is about to be strengthened.

Picking up on his appearance on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme, the Daily Record reports Foster saying:

I would have been expecting more movement so far. In saying that, so far for Rangers the best thing they have done is keep all their players.

There has been a lot of talk about Barisic possibly leaving, Morelos leaving, Aribo as well. I think they have done well to keep the players there.

Goldson staying was a big one for them, so I think that was the first hurdle. The Europa League run was spectacular, so there is a great team there. You don’t need to change too much.

Every season if you can bring in two or three players who are going to start every week that gives everyone else a shake-up. Players know they can’t rest on their laurels.

You don’t want to take in squad players. I am not at all bothered that not a lot of teams have signed players, because you want to sign players that are going to threaten to get into your first-team.

That brings healthy competition. I think Rangers will do a bit of business, but they are obviously waiting to try and get the right people in.

Talks are ongoing over the signing £2.5m of Antonio Colak from PAOK, Auxerre are reported to have made an offer to sign Fashion Sakala on loan.

Earlier this year the Ibrox club settled with Sports Direct over their multiple breaches of contract.

There’s a difference between staying and no one wanting you…any one or all of the players named above would be off like a rat up a drainpipe at the merest hint of life elsewhere…a couple of months ago when they were all high on a euro run it was all about war chests…now, when they realise there is no cash, its all about keeping your players.

The media up here gi me the boak…genuinely do.

Its needin red oot fae top to bottom, there isn’t a one of them worthy of the title journalist.

The rags here are Newco match programs, nothing more nothing less.
