A week after taking a flight to Germany Chris Jullien is eying up a Celtic comeback.
The Frenchman was expected to join Schalke but whether it was a medical or financial issue the move fell through with Jullien back in training at Lennoxtown before the week was out.
With a year to run on his contract the former Toulouse defender is in a very delicate situation with just 16 minutes of competitive football in the last year and a half.
Over the next eight days Celtic have three friendly matches with Ange Postecoglou likely to rotate his 30 man squad throughout each fixture.
Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers played every minute of the post split SPFL fixtures as Celtic took the title but an injury on international duty for the Swede could create a temporary opening in central defence.
Tony Ralston grabbed his chance a year ago, if Jullien returns to favour in the season ahead it would be almost as big a transformation as the right-back enjoyed.
Realistically, proving his fitness to earn a deal elsewhere is probably more realistic for the Frenchman.
